The small Werkstatt team, led by craftsman Mario Dieckow, creates high-end, wooden furniture for both domestic and commercial interiors. Werkstatt pieces are simple yet sophisticated offering clean and contemporary lines that will remain timeless due to their superb finishes, durability and strength.

Influences for the Werkstatt furniture range come from shaker philosophy and the bauhaus movement as well as elements of scandinavian and mid-century furniture design. The importance of combining functionality and aesthetics resulting in clean, simple, long-lasting and modern furniture. The focus on keeping the team and workshop small ensures exclusive products.

Custom-made pieces from this high-end design workshop have been commissioned internationally for luxury resorts and residences, from the Baltic Sea to Mauritius. The Werkstatt team has undertaken custom installations in a variety of locations, including five of the FIFA world cup 2010 soccer stadiums, Tokara Restaurant, and a Timbirah Game Lodge.

Mario Dieckow

Mario Dieckow was born in east Berlin. He completed his carpentry apprenticeship in Germany and originally travelled to South Africa for a custom installation on a boat. For the last two decades has been living and working in Cape Town, South Africa  with a workshop in Kommetjie and home in Scarborough. He manufactures the furniture in his workshop and often travels to  far flung places of the world to do the installations himself.
